Hourglass 1 quilt block...

                                      This is the block I decided to do next, the hourglass

 

choose your fabrics

You will need three colors

I choose black,pink,red all with polka dots.

these are all fat quarters I found that I liked at Walmart...

Next decide on how big the squares will be

I did 3 inch squares

 

next lay out the pattern

I tried cutting the two squares that have two colors into 3 inches

but that didn't work for me so they are 3 1/2 inches square

 

 

sew the two color squares together and then lay out pattern

 

 

 

then start sewing up

 

 

all rows are sewn together...now sew rows together

again I cant do my points

hmmm ....what block to do next ?

London stairs l quilt pattern

here is the pattern ...I decided to make the stairs( blue) about 3 inches long

making the block 6 x6

 

 

I drew it out on paper

 

then after choosing my fabric( scraps I had)

then started sewing up

first row is basically 2 pieces 2 inch wide and 3 inches long

 

now the second row...

sew a 1 inch by 2 inch to the 2x 3 inch piece

then sew the 2x2 inch piece on the other side

 

 

I sewed the two rows together

 

 

third row

sew both 2 x 3 inch pieces together

Basket Weave Quilt pattern

                                       Basket Weave is similar in design to the Rail Fence l pattern

 

choose your fabrics

cut into strips

I choose 2 inch strips

sew them up

 

two strips sewn up

 

measure across strips

this will be the size you cut your sections off

5 inches for me is the size of my sections

 

 

lay out your sections

 

start sewing them up

 

the finished block

 

 

next quilt block will be

???????

Rail Fence ll

here is the pattern

 

 

since I really just got how the pattern lays out

I drew using a ruler( quilting ruler)

out my pattern

 

 

then cut out pattern

then chose my fabrics, then cut out fabric

and laid the pieces out

 

                                                       Then sew pieces together

 

keep sewing, lol
