First granny square

Ok, I have decided to start this blog thing early....so here goes the first granny square pattern...

Our first granny square will be from the book above..

this is the pic of the finished project from the book

the layout of each granny

Like I stated from previous post...squares can be done with a select color in mind
as I have patterns like that or just use your imagination using those left over yarn from previous projects.

Our first granny will be the one label F-1

                              F-1 ( 1 Variation motif)
With first color ch 4, sl st in 1st ch to form ring
Rnd 1: Ch 3( counts as 1 dc),4 dc in center of ring* ch 5,4 dc in ring, rep   from*   2 more times.Ch 5; join with sl st to beg dc. End off.

Rnd 2:
Attach second color in ch 5 sp. Work * ( 3 dc ch 3, 3dc) ( corner sp), ch 1, sk next 2 dc( 1 dc ch 1 , 1 dc), between second and third dc, rep from * 3 more times; join with sl st to beg dc. End off

                                                                    RND 3:
Attach third color in ch 3 corner sp. Work* (3 dc ch 3, 3dc) in same sp, ch 2 1 dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1,
3 dc in next sc sp, ch 1,1 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 2 , rep from * 3 more times. join with sl st to beg dc. End off

This rond was alittle confusing, but I think I got it...

RND 4:
Attach fourth color in ch 2 corner( I think they mean ch 3 corner).Work * ( 3 dc ch 3, 3dc) in same sp. 3 dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 2 2 dc in top of center  dc of 3 dc group of previous rnd,ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 2 sp. rep from* 3 more times, join with sl st to beg dc. end off

                    Last rnd...Rnd 5:
Attach fifth color to ch 3 corner sp, Work* ( 3 dc , ch 3, 3dc) in same corner sp, sk next 2 dc, 3 dc in top of next dc, sk next dc, 3 dc in top of next dc, sk next dc, 3 dc in top of next dc, sk next dc, 3 dc in top of next dc, sk next 2 dc , rep from * 3 more times, end off.

I hope you can understand this pattern...at times it was confusing to me alittle but I figured it out...( confusing because I am having a few health problems right now)....

Granny squares...

I haven't posted for awhile in this blog.....so Let`s make that a New Year `s resolution to make sure I least post once a week here on my crafting corner......

So let`s start by talking about granny squares...
Granny squares are good for using left over yarn from various projects...or for making designs on the afghan you are making...or maybe for the 70s throw back wear of granny square sweaters, booties or whatever......I just like granny squares....
so lets focus on Granny squares  this year, maybe throw in a quilt pattern here or there...or embroidery pattern....cross stitch , maybe...I know there are quite a few crafters out there...

I will try and take pic for each step or row...but cant guarantee that...but I will try...

my big project

ok, I taking this apart and redoing it...using a smaller size needle...to make it more compact ...it is just so hard to work with it in the size that it is....am still doing the granny squares on it instead of the afghan stitch....

this is just the beginning of it.....I so need to get this pattern on here......so I am off to work on it and get out of this cold room...the room where the computer is on the north side of the house....

                                                             ENJOY !
